WR Friday: balancing Modules

We kicked off the discussion on Modules extremely early on, and this had a great impact on their development. As it continues, we keep hearing more and more questions and concerns. How you’ll be acquiring Modules? How strong will they be? How are we going to keep everything balanced as new effects and abilities shake things up?

Together with game designer Ivan Zvonarev, we keep going through most popular Module-related topics.

Ready? Let’s go.

Power and prices

How strong modules are going to be? Will they give 10% power increase? 50%? 100%?

As modules are still early in development, we won’t be talking about exact numbers here. First, we want to try them on the test server, collect your feedback and keep tuning them until they feel good for most pilots. Until we feel that Modules are ready for release, the question of numbers remains wide open.

But what does “feel good” mean here? We want Module effects to be clear and impactful, so you can make a clear decision on whether you want them or not based on your playstyle and strategy, not just maths.

At the same time, Modules should remain fair to your enemies. Module X acts as an insta-win button? Well, too bad, we better get rid of it or tweak the numbers so they actually make sense in a context. For some parameters 10% boost might seems like a balanced choice. For some it will be 25%. Somewhere we can turn flat-out boost into a tradeoff (-25% here, but +25% somewhere else).

And so on.

How will modules be priced? Will they be acquired with gold, silver or components?

You’ll be acquiring Modules exactly like other equipment. Some Modules will cost Silver, some — Gold or Components.

Will modules be upgradeable like robots and weapons? And if so, what parameters are increased?

Yes, you can upgrade modules. As for stats — it’s different for each module. For example, by upgrading Energized Ammo you increase the “root” chance and its duration.

  • Module: Energized Ammo
  • After every X points of damage dealt, you receive a chance to immobilize a damaged enemy for a brief time.

Getting used to new possibilities

How will players be introduced to modules?

All robots (even those you already have) arrive with a full stack of Modules pre-installed. This means that everyone will begin on the same page.

Second, modules will be released in smaller batches. This will allow us to get a better picture of your opinion on particular mechanics and their effect on the game. Also, this should help everyone to get used to new possibilities and gradually introduce them to your arsenal.

If we pushed them all at the same time, it will turn the game into chaos and also will make assessing them much much harder.

How will pilots recognize what modules their enemies and allies use?

Robots have distinctive silhouettes, weapons shoot different projectiles. What about modules?

First of all, we take this as granted: every effect should be easily readable. Whether it was a Berserk or Battleborn effect that just went off — you should clearly see it by how it visualized.

  • Module: Berserker
  • Receiving a killing blow gives you a brief invincibility for a short period of time. This module works once per battle.
  • Module: Battleborn
  • Receive extra damage resistance for X seconds after deploying.

But how do you learn what module enemy has BEFORE it activates? After all, on it depends how you’ll approach them.

For us this part is not less important. The goal is to give you all info through your HUD and in-world cues without creating too much visual noise. There are different ways to achieve that, and right now we’re testing these approaches.

Modules vs. Modules

How will modules affect current balance of robots and weapons?

We’d like to use modules as an opportunity to diversify everyone’s builds and help all robots to fit more firmly into their niche. Rogatka still won’t be able to match Griffin by raw power — with or without modules. But remember: Rogatka’s main strength is not in its power, but in its mobility. The right selection of modules will help to highlight this even more.

Anyway, one robot shouldn’t raise above others just because of modules. Modules here aren’t to disrupt the power balance, even though they might make some equipment more desirable than it was before (even Noricums!).

And yet, some pilots are concerned that Modules will create a bigger disparity between stronger and weaker robots. In theory, Spectre with Diffraction Bomb or Energized Ammo can become unstoppable… or can it?

  • Module: Diffraction Bomb
  • Forms a temporary diffraction sphere. Robots inside the sphere become invisible and non-targetable from the outside

Let’s remember that modules are divided by class. Modules of each class require a slot of a certain type. That means, you cannot fit Attack module into Defence slot — same as you wouldn’t put Medium weapon into Heavy slot. Energized Ammo is an Attack module. We don’t want a certain robot to have it? No problem here, let’s just remove the slot from it.

This is a handy balancing mechanism. If during testing we realize that attack modules are too strong on Spectre (considering its already crazy damage potential), we can just make it so Attack modules aren’t available to Spectre whatsoever.

Also, don’t forget that other robots have modules too. Spectre is not the sturdiest robot around — if you survive its attack, you can make it a toast in no time. Burst Resistance module will help you with the first part, and after that it’s up to you to demonstrate your shooting prowess.

  • Module: Burst Resistance
  • Gives chance to reduce damage from shots dealing more than X damage

To every play there should be a counterplay. Modules help here.

Will modules provide counters for certain mechanics (e.g. EMP module for disabling Stealth)?

It’s true that modules are an amazing tool not just for creating new possibilities, but also for counterweighting currently dominating strategies. For example, Burst Resistance is definitely going to affect how Orkan and Shocktrain are used.

But! But. Countering particular mechanics is not the best way to handle things — countering playstyles is overall a better idea. Here’s why.

You equip your modules somewhat blindly, before you go into combat and see your opponents in person. Will you have to fight Stealth-bots this time? You might... or you might not. See the issue? There’s no way to know this in advance. If you took the anti-Stealth module and there are no Stealth-bots around, then the said module is a waste of a slot.

So instead we consider options that are effective against Stealth but also help somewhere else. For example, movement impairing effect of Energized Ammo works incredibly well against dashing and jumping robots, but for Fury it will be rather inconvenient as well.

With this approach we can create a healthy system of actions and counteractions that are actually ingrained into the game’s core — instead of being just tacked on.

Modules and griefing?

Air Strike module hits both friends and foes. What will stop a player from doing a rage attack on their teammates?

  • Module: Air Strike
  • Incoming bombardment deals massive damage both to allies and enemies.

First, to use Air Strike you need to lock on a target. By itself it already limits the potential of deliberately messing with allies.

Second, Air Attack has a delay before dealing damage. That allows allies to step out of a targeted zone. We can also make it more visible for allies, just to make sure.

Of course, nothing can stop pilots from inefficiently using tool they have — but they can do the same with any regular weapon. Take Tarans, shoot some clouds — you’re good. In the end, we plan to discourage that with the upcoming reporting system.

Seriously? Translation... you can choose not to use them, and get your butt kicked as a result. Gee, which option will I chose? How about the, after years of paying and playing, it's no longer a game worth supporting with real money, option. Trust me, I'm there.

I'm a free-to-play War Robots player who primarily uses Raijin and Fujin. Based on my experience, these two are underperforming very much. The Raijin's shields are durable but not quite. It is still easy to wreck it unlike the Rhino's and Bulgasari's. The Fujin seems to be doing fine but it's main problem is its HP. It's kinda ridiculous for a defensive bot to have low hp and it makes the Fujin squishy and very vulnerable when its shield is down. Also, its shield only regenerates when you activate Sentry Mode. Also ridiculous. Moving on, the shocktrain is obviously the most hated weapon in the game. I've seen a lot of comments about nerfing the shocktrain's damage by 5% and reducing it's chain range to 100m. I highly agree to this. The Haechi and Bulgasari are the two bots I hate the most. First, the Haechi is pretty fast and tough and the Bulgasari's shield is ridiculously sturdy. It would be great to nerf these two dash bots.

Pyrotech442, I never tank, but I witness tanking more often than before. I totally understand people's desperate need for a gasp of air because of the "battle suffocation" created by shocktrain popularity. Anyways, thanks for the advice, you've sure made lots of good points.

Krish, whiners like this just need to understand the game better and play harder.

For one, silver in crates are doubled. You get silver by dealing damage, so if you are using gekkos and noricums, don't expect that. And for the gekkos, the damage is fine, because it is a long range (light) weapon. If it dealt more damage, slow bots like leo would die so fast cause they can't get to cover in time on long maps like yamantau or some parts of dreadnought.

Chests may seem worse, but you get so many more keys since update 3.7 or 3.8. I mean, you used to get up to 60 keys per set of supply drops, now there are 200! that means you could open a chest every 2-3 days!

Free to play players can still get top tier robots, they just have to work harder. For example, I worked hard playijg and opening chests and that resulted in an orkan kumiho, a triple shocktrain bulgasari, a hover, and even an ember for my ember/ancile raijin!

Though you do have a point on the trident and shocktrain. While the trident is only a WP weapon, even then I still think it should be xealing more damage for the type of weapon it is, and if it becomes a component weapon once workshop 2.0 is introduced, literaply it will be forgotten (I think it already is). Maybe change it to a lower tier silver weapon or gold like the zeus, and if not and it does become a component weapon, at least 25% damage buff needed. Now for shocktrain, I think the spectre and bulgasari just exaggerate the power of shocktrain. I mean, have you ever seen a rog or doc...or even cossack with shocktrain? not quite as much damage as you would expect, though when the shocktrain beats players in close combat, that is truly a sign of its dominance. Lookijg at the main problems, death mark damage and chain range. They say to split up when a shocktrain is around, but you can't really by that much with 150m chain range. 100m is much more logical and doesn't nerf it too much to the point that it is obslolete. Second, the first shot damage is must too high for a mid range instant shot weapon, and a 5% damage nerf is necessary.

I just thought of a really cool defensive (or attack?) module: just need some suggestions on the name of the module. I believe this will definitely help with the dominance of shocktrain and make the user put more thought into how they will fire it.

It will only affect bots with physical shields (not including aegis) where whenevernthe shield loses X% of its capacity, there is X percent chance a plasma shot will be deflected, so let's say running a gareth against a shocktrain haechi. With the module, depending on how upgraded it is, when the haechi fires at the shield, it will deflect back 50% of the damage it received. Possibly could be used with detachwble shields like Ecu. Does not affect with shocktrain 'chain'.

For those of you who hate the shocktrain, get a bulwark. It's aegis will completely absorb the shocktrain's damage whike the physical shield will also protect the front from shocktrain.

P.S. it would be cool if physical shields deflect 50% of the damage of the shocktrain back to who shot it (if it was a direct shot and not ricochet)

Linux, I get that you want all these nerfs for the shocktrain, but look at it's cousin Scourge, three of those mk2 level 12 can shred like orkans at close range! Plus it has more range than the shocktrain. Also, if you didn't see the ion vs shocktrain video comparison, the ion actually has more cycle DPS than shocktrain (not including chain damage). We don't need to nerf things that don't need to be nerfed. The 500m and target lock on should stay. But the real problem is the chain range and how it can reach far across the map to damage players. (fyi, did you know that if enemy robots were lined up in a straight line, the shocktrain chain can reach 1100m?) if the chain range is something like 100m, then pl ayers have to get really clustered to be punished by the chain pulse. Damagewise, if the chain is included, a pair of mk2 level 12 shocktrains can deal nearly 60,000 damage in a single shot, plus 30,000 for the second hit, 15,000 for the third...totalled up it could deal around 100,000 damage if you were lucky to find a jumble of players. and 60,000 still foe a single shot with 10 seconds recharge while the trebuchet deals around 70,000 damage but takes twice as long to recharge. Also, bear in mind that the zeus deals the same amount of damage...but it's a heavy weapon. Of course, the zeus has faster reload rime but the shocktrain also has the chain bomus, so that cancels each other out.

Sticking to the point, 5% damage nerf and nerfing the chain range to 100m is fair for now, and if it is still op, we can nerf it again.

Charlie, 1. lose silver for leaving
2. higher risk of being kicked into low priority queue (LPQ)
3. you only get 1 less honor point if you lose, but you get zero if you quit mid battle
4. tanking results in less keys and even COMPONENTS won in chests and crates

CADNE , It's really the spectre that makes every medium weapon look overpowered, even the seemingly obsolete storm and ion. Have you ever mentionedma shocktrain fujin, rog...or even cossack?

Charlie, the designer is not bad at all, as a matter in fact, it's kind of our fault these weapons are op. in the test servers, we don't test the old equipment, cause we have it already, but because of that we don't know how the old equipment will perform against the new stuff, and while in the google forms said it is ok....as a matter in fact, I remember people saying to buff the damage causeit was like a mid range trebuchet and hardly anyone wanted it, but because YOU players wanted it to be buffed during testing the weapon for the first time, it lead to a monstrous one shot killing beast! Pixonic does not set the damage numbers on their own, they ask for your feedback, so be careful of what you ask for!

Asad, I remember when I first started playing WR and it was rated 4.6 stars, now it's closer to 4 stars. However, it does not mean it is a bad game...just players may be upset with the current meta.

last month war robots was top#2 top grossing ranking on play store...but today it is on no 5 top grossing game... as u will make the game more complex the more pilots u will lose.and also when everyone will feel difficult to play not enjoyable they will leave it...

Let's not talk about the shooting range yet, buy seriously, the reload time for shocktrains must be much longer, at 15 senconds or more. There was one time I encountered 5 tripple shocktrain bulgasaris, one quad shocktrain spectre, and the game ended in less than 2 minutes for me. Some of my teammates left in mid-game. It wasn't deliberate tanking. It was total hopelessness.

Fun-killing cases like this happen to me so often I have even started to think this whole game was originally built for just one purpose, to reap fun and sow disgust through shocktrain worshipping. You either give us an antidote to this poisonous weapon or nerf it much further already!

How can one ever strike reason into someone else's mind?!

Shock train will really be very op with this modules. So maybe a nerf or change it to heavy weapon, this will not allow spectre to use four of it. But if this will change to heavy weapon then you will need to replace it with a weapon that does not have a chain effect i think that will be better.

then how will you balance the Death mark + Shocktrain Chain effect. Death mark will greatly affect the affect of chain reaction. If two or more targets have been affected by DM then all of them recieve same damage if the DM make the target received 50% more damage(50%DM - 50%Shock train chain dmg reduction = 100% full hit from shock train. I would really suggest that this weapon need to be nerf. A -20% damage reduced and the chain effect damage reduced to 70%. Four of this with spectre and a DM is not very balance and fair, this really kill the game.

You guys are trying to copy Battle Titans with your modules but what you should really copy from them is the concept of balanace. They are creating an incredible game and once iOS launches in US and Android comes out, unless you seriously actually balance your game, you will see players leave in huge numbers.
This game used to require skill and strategy, now it’s jjay whose stupid enough to spend $300 on an op bot. Battle Titans is a fun game that is balanced and requires strategy and skill, why don’t you copy that from them (or copy it from how this game used to be before mail.ru took over and whored it out).

Hahahahaha. You guys already have that with Spectre and Shocktrain so why in the world would we expect anything different with modules. It’s obvious you don’t care about balance, it’s about making things op enough that idiots spend $300 on a bot or weapon to have an unfair advantage. What a joke. But I really think you guys have been drinking too much of your own look-aid and you actually believe that the game is currently balanced.
You need to fix the lag and nerf the no-skill needed Hacktrain. Ruins every game.
And you guys proved with ‘Andrians Hanger’ on skirmish that the player doesn’t matter, if bots are op enough anyone can do 1-2million damage. So if you’re running all comp bots that are mk2 you really aren’t doin well because you’re good, it’s because you’re hanger is op af and even a monkey could do well with it.

I already said this, but I will say it again.

For now, almost nobody actually cares about modules. What you really have to do ASAP is:

-NERF THE SHOCKTRAIN: I personally think the chaining should stay, it's the unique point of the weapon. I see 2 options here.
1. 400m range, -30% damage. Doesn't deliver damage instantly, fires rather like a Trebuchet.
2. Make it fire like the Spark did on the test server. Requires lock-on, but targeting is manual.

-Fix the plasma bug: i guess it's self explanatory.

-Give us Workshop 2.0 sooner than later. Also, if you make it so the WP automatically convert to useless keys, it will be worse than anything you have done to this game so far.

-Dash bots take little to no damage from shotguns and the Aphid family weapons. Is increasing their collider's size that hard? Spoiler: it's not. I work in Unity as well, it's really simple.

Pixonic, seriously, don't focus on stuff that doesn't matter. Balancing and fixing your game is way more important than making it overcomplicated.

Modules or not, honestly, it won't make a tiny bit of difference to this game. It won't add fun unless the game designer would at least spend 1 minute to look at the data and realize this game is freakishly unbalanced and ridiculously tilted towards triple or even quadrule shocktrain holders.

There'd simply no way, whether ecu, lancelots, galahad, teamwork or whatsoever, to even slightly counterattack this babish shocktrain shock- and-hide strategy. This idea of modules sounds delicious to me at first sight, but logically, it will only worse the situation.

I used to play a lot this game and kinda enjoyed a great deal at low leagues. Now? Our clan leaders have to push us to play and I find this game getting increasingly turned into a trudge to the top of a level-headed pyramid, only to get butchered by those shocktrain holding priests who are ordained to give every poor soul a death-dealing shock therapy.

I'm not whining. I'm saying, shocktrains are killing the diversity of this game and defintely depriving lots of people of the old fun they used to have in pre-shocktrain times. Check the data and tell us the truth, please.

No offense to shocktrain users. I have shocktrains too. But honestly, it's a brainless weapon and an ecological disaster to the game economy in the long run. Please consider.

in my personal opinion I think it is necessary
* Slot exchange module with the possibility of equipping a weapon whether heavy, medium, or light in different spaces limited to certain robots

* multi slot module with the ability to equip two weapons in a space
only heavy robots example:
leos, natashas, ​​raijins, lancelot
"butch and fury" not necesary

* slot change module to be able to change a space, whether heavy, medium or light, for a limited space for certain robots

+ u people hav made it so difficult to earn silver
+i upgraded the the far forgotten robot griffin (hardly used now) to level 10 for 7 million + "Are u kidding"
+opening chests has bcm worse i hav opened
so many chests to get a rhino but i never get it
So i hav stopped waiting for my keys to come
+for a player who doesn't pay for tokes there is no other way to get them (hardly get from chests) so can u explain how can we get comonents for new stuff
+ what's the use of introducing new bots and weapons if the ("non paying") players can't get them so I will say do whatever you want with the modules i and my 28 other friends will soon Uninstall your game
+ first focus on balancing weapons and bots that r already in the game( Trident really sucks, geko has hardly any damage, shocktrain should be a heavy weapon)
+your desire to get more nd more money is running the game there's no room for non paying players PIXONIC U R REALLY DISGUSTING

npkeith, As weapon bullshit as module OK as u already mentioned it s more effective to have ancile but fine idea againist Hydra cowards as they won t drain energy shield for their allies too it may also work pretty well at other robots without ancile the idea of range is balanced too because when u once get close to these noobs they re dead so let them defend themselves just a bit is good idea keep it up ;)

Burningarrow, Just to add; why is WS2.0 taking so long?

A) to keep the players frustrated enough and collecting bits of puzzles that they'll pay for them?
B) they're trying to work out a way to monetize it
C) It's really difficult to code (despite already having a model workshop)

Burningarrow, Dude, after a year of this awful league system, do you really think they're listening?

I was in Diamond, frequently fighting Experts. Now, I'm in Expert and frequently fighting Masters. The league system is fubar and has been intentionally designed to be fubar. Why, to encourage you to spend money to upgrade faster.

Why has there been little to nothing about tankers? Same thing; money. Frustrated players are either payers or leavers; Pix doesn't seem to care which.

The economy bullshit coming up is for the same reason. Grind out millions in silver to start a multi day upgrade, or pay up to buy silver and gold to finish it quickly. The claim of giving out double the silver would be fine, if it were per match and not through the boxes. Silver has been nerfed from matches quite often over various updates. They're not really giving double the silver; it's more like giving back a little of what they stole away in the first place.

As to bugs, well, either they don't know what's wrong, they don't know how to fix it, or they're hoping you'll pay out and upgrade a different weapon.

In short: Pay Payonic.

How about a module (or weapon) that serves as a point defense gun? If it’s a weapon, make it take a medium or heavy point. It automatically targets and fires on incoming missiles (zenits, thermites, etc.). More effective the further away the missile is (needs time to target and fire). Less effective against aphids unless the are at max or near max range. Useless against direct fire rockets (get an ancille)

Also, i think that you really, REALLY shouldn't make this game chance-based. So far, if you pressed the button, you know for a certain that something will happen.

With modules, it will rather be like pressing the fire button just to hope that maybe, just maybe you will immobilize your opponent.

It's a really bad idea. Bumblebee, Burst Resistance? Amazing ideas. Energized Ammo? Just no.

Okay, let's be honest here. For now, almost nobody actually wants modules. What you really have to do ASAP is:

-NERF THE SHOCKTRAIN: I personally think the chaining should stay, it's the unique point of the weapon. I see 2 options here.
1. 400m range, -30% damage. Doesn't deliver damage instantly, fires rather like a Trebuchet.
2. Make it fire like the Spark did on the test server. Requires lock-on, but targeting is manual.

-Fix the plasma bug: i guess it's self explanatory.

-*Give us Workshop 2.0 sooner than later*. Also, if you make it so the WP automatically convert to useless keys, it will be worse than anything you have done to this game so far.

-Dash bots take little to no damage from shotguns and the Aphid family weapons. Is increasing their collider's size that hard? Spoiler: it's not. I work in Unity as well, it's really simple.

Please, *don't focus on stuff that doesn't matter*. Balancing and fixing your game is way more important than making it overcomplicated.

That being said, I hope Pixonic will take all of these great suggestions into consideration for their next update. Keep bringing us new content, but please fix the bugs along the way. Near as I can tell, our "opinions" haven't been taken into consideration since you introduced your defective leagues, complete with garbage matchmaking. We also gave you our opinions about your initial dash bot rollout where they could only be won by spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on black market spins (highway robbery, a total scam), shocktrains (need to be nerfed or outright abolished), the spectre (OP), targeting (a complete mess, lock on doesn't work, it jumps from target to target with no rhyme or reason), the taran bug (damage doesn't register at certain range), the stealth lag, gold-loading and silver-farming...and other things I'm sure I've forgotten. You've ignored all this stuff as well.

So excuse me if I doubt very much that you'll give two hoots about our opinions when it comes to modules. Nor do I have any confidence at all that modules won't serve as just another way to widen the already massive chasm that exists between the whales and the whale food, especially in champion league.

JDhawks, I think you are getting at the real problem with War Robots and that is feature creep.

When I first started playing over two years ago I was hooked because it was a simple game that could be played in 10 minutes or for hours on end. The old days where we could swap out the hangar for low end or mid range bots and have a decent match made the game so much more fun. These modules will be just another layer of unnecessary complexity to try and fix an unbalanced game which they broke with the league system and dash bots.

Recently it feels like a game of keeping up with the Joneses and too much hassle just trying NOT to be fodder for the big spenders (of time or money).

Something is really wrong with the targeting. Even when I lock it, it unlocks itself. Especially in the Hover bot. Or it keeps jumping off your target and it’s very frustrating.
Also scourges have issues with firing right after you kill and retarget. They don’t fire even though you locked onto a new target, they take like 5 seconds to recognize the new target and by then you’re dead.
The tanking issue is still a very big problem. I just finished three battles and I got matched with the same team twice in a row on the same map. And the all three battles were on the same map. But I got killed instantly, they were all monsters. How can I compete against that happening all the time?
The modules sound interesting if they will not let other people nerf my bots. I thing friendly fire damage is a very bad idea.
This last update we were promised more Silver yet I struggle for silver even worse it seems. I’ve noticed no benefit to me, yet upgrading costs more and takes longer. Hmmmmmmm....I want to get excited about the modules but I’m struggling.

Creepergomoo, I think that it should have 2 effects 1 is skill restrict as it shutdown robot effect at use it won t be so strong against dashes as it takes quite small time do dash for Griffin jump it should stop him from flying towards desired direction and land where u were when enemy used the module it should also stop any stealth mode
2. Effect will be overtime at the next reload of the skill skill won t be usable for next 10 sec
Which will be great againist dashes cuz of low cooldown this ll restrict dash shits to dashing around u as fuck :D..
U can also use it just for 2 effects against kumihos for example

You mentioned an emp module... Why make it just work on stealth? Why not make it shut down active abilities and keep them from using them (even if they are not active)? This will help counter more than just stalker and sceptere. I'm not saying it should cancel a jump, just keep bots from using it.

So let's be honest here..
The Shocktrain thing has gotten a bit ridiculous. I use'em, but still admit they need to be nerfed. If you're not willing to make them a heavy weapon, or reduce their range to like 300m, how about a ST resistance module. Maybe it reduces main impact, or just the bounce.
If you use this idea, please give one to me Android ID VZMX8Q, and my clan.
One other thought..
Consider giving older bots more module capacity. Imagine a humble bot like Vityaz having 3x the module space of an already OP dash/spectre bot. That'd totally add diversity, and surprise some folks.

Stop with the modules! Please! There are so many other things in this game that need to be fixed. It is like you are adding on to a house built on a foundation of sand. Sooner or later that house will come crashing down around your feet. There are many areas that need to be addressed before you add longer upgrade times and modules. For example weapons: Shocktrain still over powered, Dragoons and shield busters under powered. How about fixing the targeting issues? And of course matchmaking. Fix that stuff 1st and you may not have this game come crashing down around your feet.

Dave Lute, I play on Android phone/tablet and I experience none of the issues you stated. Maybe it's just iOS? I have also been playing for 4 yrs and enjoy the game more than ever spending maybe 20-30 $us a month. I have come to realize the majority of players complaining are a just the vocal minority. The game has bugs I do admit but it has grown and become very fun and competitive. I bounce between master1 and champion league and enjoy around 80-90% of my games. If I wanted to make it to top of legend then maybe I would spend more. I am not interested in that however and I find no need to spend huge amounts of money. I have unlocked everything with minimal expense. I even won a Bulwark on a recent live stream. My suggestion is to focus on the hanger you want and work towards it. Get used to the fact that it will take a month or 2 maybe more to get each bot where you want. I personally have no interest in mk2 atm. Maybe later I will invest in it. I don't need to to compete where I am at. I have come from playing a long line of mmos where you can spend years in 1 Character and still not have everything maxed so this game is not bothering me at all with upgrade times. Enjoy the game! Git gud! Try harder! Good luck!

LOL - I've never seen a game with so much potential being utterly mangled for $$. When I started playing, the Legend League was dominated by Lances, and any player could buy a matching hangar for $250, plus some workshop points (just the bots and weapons, not including upgrades). Since that time, Pixonic has introduced:
1. MK2 upgrades
2. Multiple hangars that can be selected AFTER the map is revealed
3. New game modes such as TDM and KotH that call for completely different setups
4. Tons of new bots/weapons that cannot be obtained without spending loads of cash

I looked at a Champion player's hangars last week - a player with "only" 3 hangars. It would take $4,850 to acquire his gear, not including upgrades and workshop points. So, where are we going from here? Supposedly, bots and weapons are going to be easier to get and harder to upgrade (timewise). But guess what? Spend some money, and the upgrade problems go away. On top of that, they're introducing modules that will cost money to acquire and to upgrade (if you don't want to wait an eternity). In other words, every modification they've made since I've started playing has made it more difficult for casual players like me to advance without dropping serious money. After a year and a half, I finally just got one hangar with all level 11 weapons, and my three gusts are the only component items I'm running.

Initially, I thought the modules were intended to bring back the viability of some older bots such as the Griffins and Leo I'm running or the Gepard, Natashas, Vityaz, Golem, etc. that are sitting unused. Instead, all bots are going to basically have additional upgrade capabilities that will not likely rebalance anything. Also, I don't like the idea of modules that take away control of an opponent's bots such as immobilizing ammo, nor would I like to see anything that inflicts friendly fire damage.

Finally, I'm not being critical of Pixonic just to be critical. I like and enjoy the game and was hoping to see improvements that would keep me interested. Instead, it seems like more challenges and roadblocks to ultimately getting new and upgraded, competitive equipment on the battlefield. Oh well, if I want to have fun, I can just watch Adrian and the others play with the good equipment on Youtube.

The beauty of this game used to be in it’s similarity to a chess match. There were a limited number of robots and weapons that everybody eventually had access to, and it was up to a player’s skill to determine the outcome of most matches. The rapid release of powerful new robots and weapons, coupled with the huge increase in upgrade times has made it impossible for the average player to even remotely keep up with the paying group.

I’m no whale, but I do kick in about $20 a month to the game and I can tell you that after finally getting a Spectre, learning that it would take 30 days to upgrade it from level 9-12 took the wind out of my sails. There’s gotta be a place for middle ground those between F2P and P2W. The concept of increasing upgrade times is also good in theory, but in reality, it only widens 5he gap between whales and the middle group, as the whales get their equip,met and upgrades the day they come out.

Ditto for healers & modules: cool in concept, but knowing that on day 1, most people I play against in champion league will have mkii items and that it will a) take me 2 months to get one module and b) take all resources to upgrade it over the next month, only to have some new surpassing equipment introduced once I get close to the end is totally demoralizing.

If you take the time to read about it, you appreciate how good this game is. To have an awesome game you need to pay the staff, so the game needs paying players. My hope is that the developers do something like introduce more leagues to champion to separate the 5000 guys from the 8000+ guys, especially when squadding. That way my role could be more than an appetizer for the tier 1 guys.

Too much crap as usual. Seriously you guys are overloading the game with stuff to the point that noone can become accustomed to anything. And worse, you want to increase the upgrade periods from interminable to unbelievable.

You still refuse to remove the fantastically impossible ricochet from a purposely overpowered weapon. You do nothing about a target lock that drops locks when enemy bots spawn in the target box. You leave the damn ability hutton right in the way of the turning/twisting area so that pilots are constantly inadvertently hitting that button and wasting jumps and shots. And the higgest slap in our faces is the fact that the matchmaking algorithm is STILL perpetuated(perpetrated?) upon ridiculous league rankings and STILL allowing players to deliberately tank their rankings and take advantage of legitimately lower ranked players, even inadvertantly simply because people like myself pay no attention to to those stupid rankings which have absolutely nothing to do with our abilities or skills.

Please slow this rolling mess down and fix the issues that have been plaguing this game for far too long now.

This modules are gonna suck. I mean we have a diverse enough bots and weapons for the time being. And the current economy sucks! Like 9 days for level 10 falcon for 33m ag and 1.5k au for speed up? If you are gonna roll out economy balancing, do it for all.

Ok back to modules. Do not, i repeat, do not add premium modules. Like for p2w players can only get. Disregard those orbital strike things. Implement something like this.
Module 1: +25% speed, -25% health
Module 2: +25% damage, +35% reload time...
Stuff like this where theres pros and cons.

I think that it’s good that you will let us be able to tell what module an enemy has before we fight them. I also agree with your statement that for every 25% increase in power to a robot there should be a 25% decrease in the same robot somewhere else. Hopefully this will keep modules balanced. Please don’t use these modules to nerf robots that you want to be nerfed like Spectre. I can see where Pixonic would use these modules to nerf Robots that are ~6months old so that you can make a new robot be the most powerful and latest and greatest. Please let us use modules to be able to keep robots that we like like if we like Haechi, don’t make us replace it to get Bulwark etc.

Please, pretty please, really,really optimize the performance of the game first. It has become inplayable since downgrade 3.9.
It has no sound at all if 2 or more robots come togehter, there are serious framedrops and freezing frames. Also lag from here to Jupiter.

So.. please first optimize the game.

Start with Less effects, less weapons no one can buy anyway, and less robots, only credit card hackers can buy.

The game is really become unplayable right now.
Also my iphone and ipad burn in my hands of the heat after half a game.
This can not be good.

So if you do introduce more weapons, modules and bots, without concern of performance , tankers and other cheaters, i will stop playing. I’m ou. And so will many more that made your game great and a milliondollar moneyjerker.

How about a comparison of abilities for the Silver, Gold, Puzzle modules? I'm guessing bots will come fully loaded with the silver ones, while gold will be 5000+ and the usual 10,000 for component ones.

I'd also assume that the ones written about are the component ones.
